M.O.B. – WITNESSED ON LIFELINE

1.    

YELL “MAN OVERBOARD”.

2.    

AT THE WHEEL – STOP THE BOAT!

If sailing – luff into wind. 

·       LET the jib fly.

·       DO NOT JIBE the boom – CENTER THE BOOM.

If motoring:

·       PUT the engine into NEUTRAL.

·       PULL OUT THE GEAR ENGAGEMENT PIN.

3.    

GET A LINE AROUND THE PERSON OVERBOARD.

·       ANY strong line.

·       UNDER both arm pits.

·       Secure it to the boat.

4.    

GET THE PERSON BACK ABOARD.

·       Use the RED spinnaker halyards. 

·       Lead them aft around the outside of the stays if needed. 

·       Use MOB SLING (Seat outside oilskin locker) or fashion a BIG bowline loop under both armpits.

·       If the person went UNDER the deck edge wire lifelines, you will have to release their personal lifeline to get them back aboard.
