IN THE WATER

1.    

Remain calm.

2.    

Look for the lifebuoy which may be close by.

SWIM TO IT!

If you reach the DANBOY CLIMB IN!

3.    

Check your life vest.

       Manually inflate it if necessary.

       Make sure the light is ON.

       Find your whistle BLOW it to make sure it works.

4.    

What ever your situation conserve your body heat.

       Keep your legs close together and restrict your movements to stop flushing cold water under your clothing.

       Tighten up wrist, ankle and neck fastenings of protective clothing to reduce heat loss.

       Do not attempt to swim back to the boat for the same reasons.

       Do not kick off your shoes.

5.    

In rough conditions:

       Turn your back to the waves to keep your mouth and noise clear of spray.

       Use the hood on your life vest to cover your face.
